Escape the stress contest

Of course, we realize that raising kids takes more than just time and love, it takes money. So, not only are we offering special packages for Mother’s Day, we are also running a campaign to find the Facebook fan who truly needs some stress relief!

Leading up to Mother’s Day, we’re looking for people to post a picture or tell us about one of the reasons they’re stressed as a mom. Did your toddler spill their juice and cereal on the dog who then proceeded to roll around on the living room rug? Or maybe your son figured out the volume on the remote control right before losing it and now his favourite show is keeping the newborn from falling asleep? Whatever the reason, if you share it with us on Facebook, you could win a great Mother’s Day package!

We’ll be reviewing all the entries and announcing the winner before the big day, so enter now!

We’re celebrating Earth Month with Aveda. Since 1999, they have raised over $26 million in partnership with their salons, spas, stores, institutes, and guests for environmental causes. This year, the botanical beauty brand is committed to raising $5 million for clean water, and we are happy to be involved.

The reason

Since 2007, Aveda has donated Earth Month proceeds to organizations working to combat the clean water crisis – to date more than $20 million has been directed to support hundreds of clean water projects on six continents. These donations have improved the lives of countless people around the world, including villages in Madagascar.

The cut-a-thon

Throughout April, we will be fundraising in a variety of ways with a goal of raising $2,000. Most notably, we will be participating in a global 24-hour cut-a-thon on Earth Day, April 22nd from 10am to 8pm. On that day, Aveda stylists in salons worldwide – from Tokyo, to Sydney, Moscow, London, New York, and right here – will volunteer their time to offer haircuts in return for a donation to Earth Month (minimum $10 for a haircut), a simple and beautiful way for our guests to actively care for the environment.

In addition to raising money for clean water, Aveda salons will jointly attempt a Guinness World Record for the most money raised for charity by haircuts in a 24-hour period.

How to help the cause

You can help us raise funds for clean water projects worldwide by donating here or through our online store, taking part in our cut-a-thon on Earth Day, April 22nd, purchasing a bottle of clean water or a Light the Way candle at Monastery Spa & Suites, or simply leaving money in one of the donation jars during a visit with us. Remember, every little bit helps, and together we can make a big difference!

We couldn’t have done it without our incredible staff and all the hard work they’ve done lately. Along with them, our visiting Aveda experts, Janessa Pare, Ann Sharpe, and Sarah Allen, made sure our transition to an Aveda Concept Spa went well.
